In my youth (and even into middle age), I was in my share of protests. I probably will be again, but at this point, I am doing more to support others. This weekend I spent my hard earned money to pay bail for my daughters and several of their friends as they were arrested for protesting police brutality here in Louisville, KY. I also sent contributions to the NAACP, the ACLU, and ColorofChange.org .
I'm proud of my daughters, although I was worried for them. But I mention this not to praise my daughters or myself, but to show people that even if you cannot be in the streets, there are things you can do to help. This is not a time for anyone to sit on the sidelines.
